This market has tons of unique asian foods that are hard to come by outside of Annandale and Falls Church areas. They also had a stocked food market with onigiri, sushi, and rice bowls available for purchase in the back which were delicious. We left here with some snacks and cool beverages to try.

This review is mainly for the food court. Authentic Japanese food can be hard to find here, but Marufuji is helping me satisfy my Katsu cravings. Keep in mind that this isn't a Mitsuwa-style food court with a huge variety of options. However, for a reasonable price, you can get a good Katsu Teishoku, Gyudon, or Japanese Curry. My only concern is the portion sizes seem inconsistent. The first time I visited, shortly after opening, the portion of the Pork Katsu Teshoku was quite generous, and the miso soup was delicious. On a return visit three weeks later, the Katsu was noticeably smaller, and the miso soup was rather bland. Hopefully, this feedback will help management maintain consistent quality.

Sushi lovers, the mini chirashi is value especially for $12.99. It's a bit small but perfect size for a lunch portion! It is very clean inside and the dining area is very cozy and aesthetic. If sashimi blocks have been packaged a few days back, theyre marked for 25% sale. I was a bit skeptical but the Shima Aji was still super fresh and delicious! The price hurts but it is more bearable with the 25% off and definitely sushi restaurant quality. The staff here are super kind and welcoming and want you to try their samples. In the front, there's also a small section where they have discounted items (ie one bowl that was originally a set of 2) TLDR: good sushi, there are occasional sales and discounts (follow their ig), great specialty store, just be careful because if you come here too often your wallet will cry

My Katsudon was decent, can't really compare it to a real dine in restaurant. The meat was crispy, but the bowl overall was a little too bland for me. I think it's still worth the convenience if you're hungry from shopping. I still want to try their other foods as they look good.

This place is absolutely amazing. They've got all sorts of Japanese stuff. I went here the first time a day or two after they opened, and it was crazy-busy. It was an awesome experience, though, so I've been back several times since. I went today with my daughter (in town for her Spring Break), and she said, " Dad, that place is a wonderland!" during the drive home. We had lunch there; the Japanese curry (the consistency, the meat, and the spice level were all just right) and karaage (crispy-yet-moist) were both excellent. Definitely give Marufuji a(t least one) look!

Super cute Japanese market. It's like a pocket-size version of the Costco-level Japanese markets in Seattle and NJ. I came here midday during the week for lunch. I hear it's crazy on the weekends, so shoppers beware. The ready-made food was super fresh and the sushi picks looked great and had a wide variety! My friend and I ordered Gyudon Japanese beef bowl over rice. It's thinly sliced meat in a savory-sweet sauce. The meat was tender, but a little stringy. We also got a couple salmon avocado rolls to share. Yummy! Got my stamp of approval! For the pre-made rolls, you have to go back to the front of the store and make your purchase at the cashier (and not at the food counter). That part was a bit tedious to go back and forth around the store. I want to come back to purchase their fresh yellow tail, wagyu cuts and chirashi bowls. The market still seems new, so they're continuing to stock their wares. In the front of the store, they have a couple aisles for small home goods and Japanese beauty. Sunscreen galore! They are pricier than what you can get online - but it's the convenience you pay for. This place also has lovely food gifts like fine chocolates and adorably-packaged cookies. They also have some textiles and a handful of shelves for ceramics. I long for the humongous Japanese markets from the other coast - but this will do for now!!

My boyfriend and I have visited Marufuji twice now--once when it first opened and again after the initial hype had settled. I was hesitant to write a review the first time because many items were out of stock, and we didn't get to try much of the menu. Thankfully, on our second visit, the experience was exactly what we had hoped for. When we walked in, we noticed a stand in the middle selling Wagyu burgers for $20, which piqued our interest (I wish I could've tried one, but I didn't, though the burger patties looked huge). This time around, the store was fully stocked with everything you'd expect. The meats looked fresh, and the vegetables were vibrant and green. There are a few other stands in the back offering snacks like onigiri, skewers, and strawberry sandwiches. We tried the Teriyaki, Tuna Mayo, and Eel onigiri, but we both felt that they were mostly rice with too little filling. From the restaurant, we ordered the Gyudon, which was surprisingly delicious. The beef was flavorful, and the portion size was great for the price. There's plenty of seating, and the staff is very efficient. While Marufuji offers a variety of Japanese treats and snacks, I will say that many of these items can be found online or other grocery stores for a lower price.

Upon arrival the parking lot was dark. Seemed like it was the whole shopping center. The store itself was open and arrived an hour before closing time. They were pretty busy and a ton shopping. Place looked clean and simple just like Japan. A ton of authentic items from Japan. And wished we arrived earlier to try the sandwiches as it looked like a ton were already gone.

Glad to have a Japanese market in the area. The aisles are a bit small and a month after opening, it's still a bit crowded in there and I think the store still can't keep up with restocking....But the lines go quickly! Some of the special import items are really pricy, but I understand why -- they need to mark up with the cost of shipping. The food in the restaurant was decent. The curry and takoyaki were good- the pork was a little tough. I wish they had a noodle dish. I enjoyed the hojicha latte that I got. I'm excited to try the sushi and sashimi next time, and the onigiri (we came on a Sunday night after 6pm and there was barely anything left in the prepared food areas). We will definitely be back !
